MEMBERSHIP

The purpose of ISAZ is to provide a forum for the discussion of matters of common interest to independent schools in Zambia. Any private school in Zambia may be eligible for membership, provided that the school is controlled by a duly constituted governing authority and enjoys recognition by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Zambia as a registered private primary or secondary school.

Member schools are found in Monze(1); Mazabuka(1); Lusaka(19); Chisamba(2); Mkushi(1); Ndola(3); Kitwe(2); Kalulushi(1); Chingola(1); Solwezi(5). The schools have been divided into 2 “regions”: Midlands (comprising Southern province and Lusaka Province schools) and Northern Region (comprising Copperbelt and Solwezi schools).

Schools can apply for membership of ISAZ by completing the appropriate forms and emailing them to isazschools@gmail.com. If the application is approved in principle, the school will be visited by a team of two current ISAZ school heads to ensure that the applicant school meets the expected standards for ISAZ schools. Following that, a meeting of the ISAZ Executive Committee will review the application and visit report and either approve the school as a new member of provide the school with feedback on the necessary changes to be made before a new application to join can be submitted.

ISAZ represents good independent schools in Zambia and provides a forum for the discussion of matters of common interest. The organisation engages in activities that may be considered beneficial to the independent school movement and provides a representative body with which others outside the Association can consult.
